A pergola and a gazebo are two distinct outdoor structures that serve different purposes and exhibit unique design features. A pergola is an open-air framework typically composed of vertical posts supporting crossbeams and an open lattice, louvered or slatted roof. Its primary function is to provide partial shade and define an outdoor entertaining space. On the other hand, a gazebo is usually a structure with a solid roof, providing more protection from the elements.
